The Long Eaton Hearing Voices Group is part of the South Derbyshire Hearing Voices Network. It is a self-help group that meets weekly for 1 hour on Wednesdays.
The Hearing Voices Network is led by voice hearers. A mental health worker is present and has a facilitatory role but is mainly there to support the voice hearers on issues and to find information. The groups are open to anyone who has experienced voices.
The aims of the groups are to: Provide support to voice hearers via discussion, promote self-help for voice hearers, encourage alternative ways of coping and improve education about voice hearing and complementary approaches. Also campaign to improve quality of life, host training and social events.
